My italian friend is Lorenzo Vacca. He is from San Gavino Monreale.He and I are quite, but our be haviour is very different. He is more comedian, my family and I laugh a lot with him.
My life is quieter, but Lorenzo is more active. In my house we speak catalan, but italian is similar and we speak with Lorenzo in Italian. This summer holiday, me and my family go to Sardenya to visit Lorenzo and his family. I will never forget this experience.

"SANT MAURICI - AIGÜES TORTES"

Aigüestortes has 272 lakes, the greatest concentration in the Peninsula. The largest lake is Estany de St Maurici surrounded by mountain pine, and the twin peaks of Els Encantats.
The climate is alpine with a mean annual rainfall of 900 to 1,300mm, according to the altitude (1,500-3,014m).

Vegetation and fauna.

The vegetacion is caracteritzed by woodlands. That are so big. The Pine woodland are the most. In terms of fauna; that is caracteritzed y the salamander and the common frog. (Normal frogs)

Monuments.

The church of the Asunción del Cóll and the Saint's churches of St Climent and Sta. Maria de Taüll have the most important wall paintings of the Catalan Romanesque. All of them are constructions of the XIth, XIIth and XIIIth centuries, carried out by painters proceeding from Italy.

Pedraforca is a mountain very beautiful of the Pirineu. It’s in the natural park “Cadí-Moixeró”.
In it there are a lot of animals; the rabbit, squirrel, fox, and more others.
A lot of people go to Pedraforca to climb it, beacuse is a famous mountain in Catalonia and on other countries.
There are two tops on the mountain, making an U.
A legend says long time ago on the top of mountain, every night, some witches dancing and spelling. There were two groups of witches, and there were in war. So one night, the witches were making so noise, then, Sant Miquel down of the heaven and cut the mountain, separating the two groups of witches.

It is in Tarragona province on the coast, of the Mediterranean between the comarques of Low Ebre and the Montsià. This place has got 320km2 of surface and it's made by nature. The flora is very varied and there grow plants suchas salicòrnia, Salsona, donzell, bord.

There are a lot of “ucelli” incluending pelicans and other amazing birds. There are interesting “pesce” and “rettili” too.

Because there many things to protect, now, the zone of the Delta del Ebre has been, considered a protected since 1983. But, the most imprtant problem of it is the humidity.

For the tourist, there are a lot of thing to do. Around or in the park we can see monuments, beaches, culture, gastronomy, crafts, sports, natural spaces and parties.

It has been a protected natural area since 1983 and it covers an area of 4824 hectares. This is between the rivers Fluvià and Muga.

"Els aiguamolls de l'Empordà" are the largest Group most important park in Calalunya, after the "Delta de l'Ebre". In the past, it occupied munch of the coastline of the Empordà.

Also, in there, were some rice crops.

It is a place with wild botany such as beach as beache dunes and flooded fields. We can see many types of aquatic birds like: kingfisher or stoks...

It is a nice place to walk with family or friends.

THE NATIONAL PARK OF

“LA GARROTXA”

The Garrotxa Volcanic Zone is situated 100 kilometres to the north of Barcelona.
In a large part of the southern half there are more than 40 volcanoes and various lava flows, forming a gentle countryside without dramatic gradients, which is protected by La Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park. From the Fluvià river valley to the county's northern limits, the landscape changes dramatically. This is the Alta Garrotxa, which is a declared area of natural interest.

THE VOLCANS:

The Garrotxa Volcanic Zone is situated 100 kilometres to the north of Barcelona. There are thirty Strombolian volcanic cones.The last dated eruption occurred 11,500 years ago, thus though volcanic activity has ceased, it cannot be considered to be finally extinct. The thirty or so volcanic cones are in a very good state of natural conservation, considering their age. Most of the craters are visible and consist of cinder material

VEGETATION:

There ara holm oaks are typical on the sunny hillsides of the eastern sector, with relatively dry and hot summers, the oak tree predominates in other parts, and the beech is found in the most humid sectors.

The diet Mediterrania is and exemple of and a very healty food. In this is very varied food. For example: paella has got a rice, seafood, meat and vegetables. And a other example is truita de patates, this has got a potatos, eggs and onnion

RECIPE: BEANS WITH SAUSAGES

This is a very popular plate in Catalonia. In this foot we find pulse and meat. In the past, the farmer’s eated this foot becouse there are a lot of vitamins. Is a easy for make but ech family prepare this plate acording to I’ts tast.
Ingredients for 4 persons:
- 1 sausage of 500g or 2 of 250g.
- 500g of beans of ganxet cooket
- ½ small glass of olive oil.
- 100g of bacon
- 1 or 2 arlic.

Preparation:
1st- We put oil in a pan and waiting. When the oil is hot, cook the sausage from 5 or 10 minutes.
2nd_ When the sausages finish, put more oil in the pan and cut the garlic in small dices and puttit in the pan.
3rd- When the garlic is gold, putit the bacon in small pieces too. Wait from 2 to 5 minuts.
4th- Put the beans with the garlic and bacon and mixt. Then saute all. Wait 5 minuts approximately. All depen of the taste of any person.
5th- Put the sausage on a beautifull plate on a side and in center put the beans. When you prepared the plate, before to service inclose a litle bit of oil and parsley on the beans.

You have to eat a healthy diet for the body and the mind. A healthy diet consists of eating a little of everything: meat, fish, vegetables, grains ...

Spanish potato omelet is a dish of eggs and potatoes. The name comes beacouse is like a cake or pancake.

INGREDIENTS (for 4 persons) :

- 4 eggs
- 3 potatoes of average size
- 1 onion
- 2 spoonfull of olive oil
- ½ spoonfull of salt

PREPARATION:

Cut the potatoes and the onion in slices, then salt it. Put the potatoes and the onion in one paella with the oil and let fry over low fire until they are soft, meanwhile, beat the eggs and mix it up and put salt. Then put in the paella.When it is done reverse side with a plate and let it do the other side. When done remove it from paella and allow to cool.

ENDROITS À VISITER

Nous avons fait une sélection d'endroits à visiter si vous venez chez nous. À part de ce qui est publié en anglais, nous vous proposons de visiter "Le Jijonero". C'est un glacier. Là, il y a les meilleures glaces de la ville. On peut acheter des glaces seulement en été parce qu'ici il n'y a pas l'habitude de manger des glaces en hiver. La boutique se trouve au centre de la ville et ils font les glaces eux mêmes, de façon artisanale. C'est sur une petite place, on peut s'assoir sur la terrace et on rencontre tout le monde. À notre avis les meilleurs parfums sont "Festa Major" et "Carrer Corró". "Les Olles" c'est aussi un autre marchand de glaces très bon.

La Fonda Europa: L'Hôtel fonda Europa est le plus ancien de la ville. Il a plus de cent ans. Il se trouve au centre de la ville. C'est là où l'on célèbre tous les succés du Barça. Quand il gagne tout le monde va là-bas pour fêter la journée sportive. On crie, on chante, on boit... bref, on fait le fou et on est très contents. Vous savez donc où vous pouvez nous trouver mercredi 27 au soir!. Il faut le voir!

La Roca Village: C'est un village artificiel pour faire des courses. Il ne se trouve pas exactement à Granollers, mais c'est tout près, à quelques kilomètres. Là on peut acheter beaucoup de choses, mais surtout des vêtements de marque à bon prix. C'est très joli et très bien décoré. Il y a une grande rue et une grande place. Les boutiques sont comme des petites maisons très jolies. C'est très amusant et on peut aller avec la famille ou les amis et tout le monde trouve ce qui l'intéresse. Si on est fatigué on peut s'arreter à prendre un pot.

LES RECETTES

Suite à notre travail sur les repas, nous avons cherché des recettes de cuisine de plats qui nous plaisent et que nous savons préparer. On est tous d'accord qu'un des plats le plus représentatif chez nous, en Catalogne, c'est "Le pain avec tomate". Ce n'est pas exactement un plat cuisiné mais il accompagne toujours les répas de fête et réunions d'amis, à n'importe quel moment de la journée. Pour le préparer il faut un pain de campagne coupé en tranches, (on peut les griller), des tomates mûres coupés par la moitié, une gouse d'ail (optatif) du sel et de l'huile. On frotte amoureusement le pain avec l'ail et la tomate,on ajoute du sel et un filet d'huile et...c'est prêt. On le mange normalement accompagné de la charcuterie de la région ou d'omelette. C'est délicieux.

Les macarrons

Ingrédients: 100 g. de "macarrons" par personne, du fromage râpé et un peu de beurre. Pour la sauce: de la viande hachée (moitié porc, moitié boeuf ou veau), des tomates, des oignons, des carottes, du basilisc, de la marjoraine, du sel, du sucre, un petit verre de vin vieux et de l'huile.

Préparation: Dans une poêle avec un peu d'huile faire dorer la viande et retirer. Dans la même poêle, ajouter un peu d'huile, si nécessaire, et dorer les oignons, ajouter les carottes et les tomates et laisser mijoter. Ajouter le sel et une pincée de sucre. Avant de retirer du feu incorporer à nouveau la viande, ajouter le vin et laisser mijoter encore pour évaporer l'alcohol. Dans une casserole bouillir les "macarrons" dans l'eau salée, égoutter et passer dans un plat qui puisse aller au four. Bien mélanger avec la sauce, mettre du fromage râpé et du beurre par dessus et dorer au four un moment.

Les élèves de français, nous avons fait un petit travail sur nos habitudes alimentaires. D'après une enquête réalisée en classe, un peu plus de la moitié des élèves prend un petit déjeuner à la maison, avant de sortir et un 75% des élèves mange un sandwich pendant la récréation, le même pourcentage qui considère très important, bien manger le matin, avant de quitter la maison. À midi un 13% des élèves ne mange pas chez soi, mais seulement un 3% reste à la cantine. Le plat préféré c'est, avec une grande diférence, la pasta suivie de la pizza et dans la plupart des maisons c'est la mère de famille qui fait la cuisine. Le soir, un peu plus de la moitié des élèves dîne toute la famille ensemble, entre huit heures et demie et dix heures du soir. À table, une grande majorité magnifeste boire de l'eau. Qu'est-ce que vous en pensez?

Granollers, capital of the eastern Vallès region (Vallès Oriental), is situated on the Vallès plain, which forms part of the pre-coastal Catalan depression, at an average height of 148 metres above sea level. Vallès Oriental is a region with a wide range of different aspects. Mountain areas combined with large valleys full of small hills, cultivated fields, streams, towns and cities.

A bit of history:

The first signs of life discovered in the Granollers area go back more than 4,000 years. The most important archaeological findings, however, are those of the Can Trullàs necropolis from the roman era. The first reference to the place name Granollers does not occur until 944, when it was referred to as ‘Granularios Subteriore’.From 1040 the first mention of the Granollers market appears.

Bombing of the 31 of May of 1938:

An account of the bombing that took place on 31st of May 1938; 30 explosive bombs and 10 incendiary devices were dropped in an attack by 5 Savoia-S 79 aircraft.Tuesday 31 May 1938 was an unexpectedly tragic day for the people of Granollers. 5 Savoia-S 79 aircraft flying in the direction of Barcelona altered their course and headed towards the capital of the eastern Vallès region. As the planes prepared to attack out of the clear sky, the city was going about its daily business.

People were hurrying to and fro at the start of the working day. People were queuing to buy their provisions. People were looking for a newspaper that would give them the latest news about the war. The citizens of Granollers, people who had just arrived from neighbouring towns or those who had been in the town for some time were all now busy in the streets of Granollers. At 9:05 a.m. and for one short minute, or put in another way, in a just one minute, which for many must have seemed eternal, pathetic, deafening, and bloody, the 5 planes spewed down their 30 explosive bombs and about 10 incendiary devices. 3 of these bombs were expansion bombs of the type that had been used for bombing Guernika in April 1937, and that sadly, would be employed on other occasions as well.

Trade in the town:

Granollers is today the major business centre in the eastern Vallès region. According to the Spanish Economic Annual Report published by the savings bank, La Caixa, there are 1,569 retail premises occupying a total space of 191,561 m2 and 406 wholesalers. The business community of Granollers currently plays a major role in the life of the city where it has become an important force for promoting social, cultural and sporting activities.

Thursday Market:

The Thursday market has been and continues to be a fundamental part of the life of Granollers and has played a vital role in its development. The city’s perfect location makes it a meeting point, suitable for all types of business transactions. The Thursday market is diversified and is held in various streets and squares around the centre of the city every Thursday of the year.

Visiting the most important buildings

La Porxada:

The monument most associated with the city was built between 1586 and 1587 as a result of a project entrusted by the Consell de la Vila (the Town Council) to the master builder Bartomeu Brufalt. La Porxada was initially designed as a corn exchange and cost 739 Barcelona pounds. The building is 24 metres long and 15.65 metres wide and consists of 15 Tuscan columns supporting a pyramidal tower roof.

The walls:

Building on the walls began in 1291 and they reached their full height between 1366 and 1380 under the reign of Pere III. They were demolished at the end of the 19th century but remains of the 16th century rebuilding have been conserved. The walls took the form of a hexagon and had eleven defensive towers with a walkway connecting them known as the corredossos. The five gatehouses were placed on the existing roads, and on top of each one was a chapel: the Barcelona gatehouse (Sant Cristòfol), the Caldes gatehouse (Santa Anna), the Corró gatehouse (Sant Antoni), the Bell-lloc gatehouse (Sant Roc) and the Roca gatehouse (Santa Esperança). When the walls were demolished the chapels were moved to the side of the road.

The bell tower of the parochial church of Sant Esteve:

This is the last vestige "in situ" of the old gothic church of Saint Stephen, built in the 15th century over a Romanesque building. The tower is 34 metres high and divided into three floors, the first floor is square shaped the others octagonal. It has large gothic, tri-lobed, tracery windows, topped by a balcony front with an interlacing motif. The Museu de Granollers (Granollers Museum) contains corbels and trestles from the original gothic church.

The Francesc Tarafa building:

This building is located in Corró Street and it was the site of the old hospital built by Bertran de Seva in the 14th and 15th centuries. It continued to be a centre for health care until 1844. The current building preserves the gothic structure of the old hospital and has a pitched roof supported by three diaphragm arches and wooden beams. It was redesigned in 1926 by Joaquim Raspall and converted into a library. The interior was decorated with a plant relief and modernist stained glass windows. Two gothic windows acquired from Felip Blanchart were fitted into the front of the building along with a rosetó (rose window).

The town hall:

The town hall is located opposite la Porxada and has gone through a great deal of changes since it was first built at the end of the 16th century to cope with the administrative needs of the time. Between 1902 and 1904, the architect Simó Cordomí totally redesigned the old building.

RULES AND REGULATIONS:

Attend school daily; arrive on time and present notes to explain absences.

Arrive to school prepared to learn.

Respect all students and all adults in the school community.

Keep the school property free from damage and harm and respect the property of the others

Keep the school clean and your own area clean.

Eat and play only in designated areas. Sweets, soda and “junk food” may not be brought to school.

No fighting, cursing, bullying or threaten behaviours to the others.

Leave personal items at home! Beepers, CD players, PSPs, Ipods, trading cards, games, weapons, laser pens, …….. are not permitted at school.

Mobile phones are to be turned off during school hours. Students are allowed to use mobiles phones before and after school only. These items will be confiscated and returned to parents only.

Walk quietly and in an orderly manner throughout the school area.

Wear appropriate school attire as determined by the dress code.

Follow the classroom, playground, lunch and safety rules.

No scooters, skateboards, wheelies, skates, bikes or motorized equipment permitted all over the school.

All schools , as all places where there are a lot people working together, have rules to be followed, for this is the best way we have to prevent problems and encourage students to learn how to be good citizens and responsible members of their community. We all know that we, teachers, have to educate on values that go beyond academic contents. We are convinced that a school is no longer a place where students learn maths or language; it is much more than this: A school is the first step for children and teenagers to reach the world of adults, it is where they will learn how to cope with society and the challenge of the teachers is to help them in this process.

The law tells us what rights and duties we all have, and these are some of the most important ones that we have in our school.

All students have the right….

1. to receive an education which will ensure the development of their personality.
2. to be respected in their beliefs, both moral and religious.
3. to be fairly qualified through exams, etc.
4. to participate in the school events, meetings, etc.
5. to be oriented academically and professionally.

All students must….

1. respect each other’s right to study and learn
2. attend lessons on time and justify absences.
3. attend school activities and excursions.
4. respect safety and hygienic rules.
5. behave properly whenever they are carrying out a school activity, both inside and outside school.

The people in charge to make these rules be obeyed are the teachers and ultimately the headmaster.

At the beginning of the school year, all students are given an agenda where they will write all their tasks and homework. This agenda also contains a list with all the rights and duties of our students in order that all the families know these rules.

When a student misbehaves, the teacher in charge writes the incident on a list. Thus, the tutor knows about it and may eventually take measures.

However, we must keep in mind that the purpose of rules is to make everybody’s lives easier, not the other way round!

Le demi-marathon Granollers – “La mitja marató”

Un autre évènement sportif de grande renommée c’est le demi-marathon de Granollers.
Il s’agit d’une course populaire de 21’1 Km qui parcourt la ville et villages voisins.
Cette année elle a été choisie par la Féderation Espagnole d’Athlétisme comme la meilleur course du pays dans sa catégorie.

Le premier Février 2009, la XXIII ème édition, a eu une participation de 5.500 athlètes. Entre les participants on a pu voir des recordmen du maximum niveau comme Haile Gebrselassie ou Samuel Wanjiru, médaille d’or à Pekín 2008 et vainqueur de la course de cette année, avec un temps de 1h 01’ ainsi que des citoyens qui s’entraînent pendant toute l’année pour le plaisir de courir et d’être en forme.

A propos, on a vu passer quelques profs de l’école! L’ambiance est très festive et l’organisation comme la participation du public magnifique.

SPORT À GRANOLLERS

La ville de Granollers a une longue tradition sportive, le premier club d’esport a été crée
en 1913, et ceux qui veulent faire du sport ont un grand choix d’activités pour pratiquer à diferents niveaux.

Sans doute l’esport roi c’est le handball. Le Club de Balonmano Granollers est le club de handball le plus ancien d’Espagne et le premier club espagnol à participer dans une competition européenne. En 1976 il a gagné la Coupe d’Europe des vainqueurs de coupe (deuxième compétition européenne derrière la ligue des champions). La liste des prix et succès esportifs est longue et dû à ce haut niveau sportif en 1992, la ville de Granollers, à 18 Km de Barcelone, a été choisie comme site officiel handball pour les jeux olympiques de Barcelone. C’est ici que l’on a joué le tournoi olympiquel et pour celà on a construit Le Palais des Sports, en plein coeur de la ville avec 6.500 places pour le public. Actuellement ce complexe sportif permet la pratique sportive d’haute qualité et la réalisation d’évènements culturels divers.

How do we celebrate Christmas in Granollers and in Catalonia?

Well, we do certainly have our own traditions! First of all we have "El Caga Tió".This is maybe the most Catalan tradition of all: It is a trunk that the children feed for a week or two before Christmas and on Christmas Eve, they beat it with a stick singing a song: " Caga tió, caga torró,d'avellana o pinyó".. ( Shit, old trunk, sweets made of hazel nut...) Then, the trunk "shits" little presents and Christmas sweets for all the children.

We also make "El Pessebre":
In most of the houses, people put small figures of the Virgin Mary, Saint Joseph and the holy child on scenes, as if it were Bethlehem 2000 years ago. However, some figures of Catalan tradition are always present: shepherds, priests and obviously: El Caganer (again, there is always a man shitting in all Pessebres) .We, Catalans, have a special attraction for all things related to going to the toilet!!!! But, the big presents are brought by the three Wise Men: They come on the fifth of January to all the houses were the children have behaved. If they haven't the Three Wise Men will only bring them some coal.

Comencem la setmana fent matemàtiques amb en Ramon.
